The Parliamentary Women, Family and Childhood Committee announced the inclusion of the Child Law for the second reading during the current week, and pointed out the need for amendments to the Domestic Violence Law.
The head of the committee, Donia Al-Shammari, told Al-Sabah: The House of Representatives will proceed with the second reading of the Child Protection Law after a number of signatures have been collected, as the amendments that will be added to it will be discussed, and there are currently some suggestions and workshops regarding it, confirming the committee’s endeavor to complete the vote on it and include it. into effect.
She added that the Domestic Violence Law is still stagnant since the previous sessions, as it needs amendments that suit social reality and do not conflict with religion, as it is a sensitive law.
Al-Shammari continued that the Women’s Law will witness some amendments to it before it is presented for the first reading, because there are some points that conflict with the social reality, as we seek to end the conflicts and approve it during the coming period, indicating that the committee held workshops on the Women’s Law, due to its desire to reach convictions that guarantee rights woman.
