The Ministry of Commerce announced, on Monday, that it will distribute the Ramadan food basket within Baghdad and the provinces next week, through ration agents who have been directed to increase their working hours to five in the afternoon.
The official spokesman for the ministry, Muhammad Hanoun, said in a press statement, "There is joint cooperation between the regulatory and specialized agencies in the ministry to prepare the items of the Ramadan food basket that will be launched during the next week, by addressing any obstacles during the processing process, in addition to following up on sales centers and mills to see The process of flour production and auditing of its produced types, silos and grain examination procedures.
He revealed "the efforts of the General Company for Foodstuff Trade to complete the marketing complex in Al-Sadr sales, with the aim of contributing to maintaining the prices of the necessary foodstuffs that the citizen needs, stressing that it will open before the holy month, two other complexes in the Karkh sales center and Al-Hurriya next to Al-Karkh, and two others Within the governorates of Maysan and Dhi Qar, while a number of them will be opened in all governorates in the coming days.
Hanoun stated that his ministry carried out joint control campaigns with food companies on the 56,000 food agents, to diagnose violations and take appropriate measures and penalties when the violation of controls and instructions is proven, noting that the Minister of Commerce directed that the agents’ working hours be from nine in the morning until five in the afternoon to prepare citizens. 25.
