The Teachers Syndicate is close to implementing projects to support educational staff financially and healthily, in coordination with the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers.
In return, educators demanded that the government include them in plots of land and improve their salaries.
The Head of the Teachers Syndicate, Dr. Abbas Al-Sudani, told Al-Sabah: Coordination has been made with the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers to implement several topics related to the teachers’ segment, as it is hoped that the “distinguished teacher” project will be implemented soon, and it is one of the projects that will provide real support to teachers in terms of material and health.
He indicated that there were extensive consultations and meetings with the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers regarding the agreement on financial allocation for the project to proceed with it.
In turn, the educational supervisor at the First Rusafa Education Directorate, Haider Al-Sakani, told Al-Sabah: It is necessary to work on implementing the teacher protection law and granting teachers plots of land or residential homes in order to improve the standard of living for this important segment of society.
He emphasized that most teachers suffer from a housing crisis and land plots were not granted to them during the past years, which the government must pay attention to in order to do justice to them, as they need real support in light of the economic crises that the country went through, in which all segments of society were affected, including the teacher. Which is an essential element in the progress of the country.
For his part, English language teacher Mahdi Al-Khafaji told Al-Sabah: The monthly salary is not sufficient to provide the necessities of life for the teacher, so we need to reconsider salaries, especially in light of the high prices of goods in the local markets.
He explained that the teacher resorted to private teaching to improve his living conditions, calling for the need to grant teachers plots of land or interest-free loans.
