The independent politician, Saad Al-Mutalabi, accused the Iraqi Foreign Ministry of failing to hold the US ambassador accountable and for its blatant interference in Iraq.

Al-Mutalabi said in a statement to Al-Maalouma, "The Iraqi Foreign Ministry deliberately ignores the actions of the US Ambassador, Alina Romanowski, through her suspicious movements and holding meetings and visits outside her diplomatic missions."
He added, "It is naive to leave the ambassador's moves out of good faith, because she visited the Speaker of Parliament and the governor of Anbar at a time when voices are mounting calling for their dismissal," noting that "the purpose of those moves is to incite corruption and establish the Sunni region in cooperation with suspicious parties.” In addition, the former member of the House of Representatives, Jassim Al-Bayati, described the ambassador's movements as blatant interference "in the internal affairs, while criticizing the government. Bayati said in an interview with Al-Information Agency, that "the movements of Washington's ambassador to Baghdad show the weakness of the ethnic government," asking, "Is it Can the Iraqi ambassador in Washington go and meet American politicians, merchants, and clans?" Absolutely not.”
