Prime Minister: The country needs a reform revolution in the oil sector

Yesterday, Wednesday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani sponsored the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Municipality of Baghdad and the Paris municipality, which was signed by Ammar Moussa, the Mayor of Baghdad, on the Iraqi side, and the French Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, while pointing to the country's need for a reform revolution in the oil sector.
The Prime Minister stated, in a statement to his media office, that "the signing of this memorandum comes within the framework of cooperation relations between Iraq and France, in order to work to show the beauty of Baghdad with its history and heritage," stressing "the government's determination to implement projects that highlight the civilizational importance of Iraq." and his position.”
The memorandum of understanding includes strengthening cooperation in various fields, in accordance with mutual interests and the laws in force in France and Iraq. It also involves the exchange of experiences in the service side, which includes water, sanitation, waste management, energy and urban planning, as well as programs related to culture, tourism, and the cultural and urban heritage of the two cities. As well as cooperation in the field of environmental management and sustainability.
In the meantime, the Prime Minister, during his visit to the headquarters of the Ministry of Oil, chaired a meeting of the opinion committee of the ministry, which witnessed a discussion of a number of important oil files, especially in the sectors of extraction, associated and free gas investment, oil exploration and infrastructure, and standing on the problems and obstacles that hinder its projects.
Al-Sudani listened to a detailed presentation on the plans, activities and projects implemented within the government program, and the role of the national effort in that, presented by the Undersecretaries and General Managers. Which was recently operated by the national effort, which will achieve financial revenues, by offering investment opportunities in the refining sector, that would end Iraq’s import of oil products and transfer it to the stage of exporting various petroleum products.
He said: His second visit to the Ministry of Oil aims to provide support for this important sector in the sustainability of the economic situation, indicating the country's need for a reform revolution in the oil sector, through which the oil and petrochemical industries can be developed and the optimal investment of oil and gas fields.
And he stressed the need to address the real problems in the export system, directing the national effort to develop studies to address the current problems, calling for setting timelines for the long-overdue files that were discussed in this meeting.
