External roads are the mainstay of human and commercial transport and one of the foundations of development on which the economies of a number of countries depend. With the start of the implementation of the (Development Road) of regional and then international importance, the federal and local governments have been active in developing external roads. A new Directorate of Road Engineering has been created. While the Basra governorate will witness the construction of a new road with international specifications, linking it with the Al-Faw district and port.
The official spokesman for the Ministry of Construction and Housing, Nabil Al-Saffar, stated that road projects have been delayed since 2011, revealing the formation of a new directorate for road engineering.
Al-Saffar told "Al-Sabah": "Many road projects have been lagging behind since 2011, and work on them will be resumed during the current year."
