A member of the Parliamentary Services Committee, Walid Al-Sahlani, downplayed the importance of talking about the risks surrounding the economic situation in Iraq as a result of the explosive budgets.
Al-Sahlani said in a press interview seen by “Takadum” that “the talk about the existence of a threat to the Iraqi economy is inaccurate,” pointing to “the presence of parliamentary and governmental committees working on developing economic plans to increase Iraq’s financial revenues.”
He added, "The deficit in the budget is planned, and the government can overcome it by working to increase financial revenues," noting that "the budget entered into force by awarding 16 contracts for major projects in the sectors of electricity, health, roads, bridges, and other service projects."
