A parliamentary committee to mature the right to information law

The House of Representatives formed a committee to prepare a draft law on the right to information and approve it during the next stage.
A member of the Parliamentary Legal Committee, Dara Hama Ahmed, told Al-Sabah: Access to information is a right for everyone, emphasizing that there is information that cannot be disclosed in any way, noting that the purpose is not only in its approval but in its implementation.
He pointed out that the philosophy of law is the administration of the state and the protection of citizens, as information must be obtained in order to control the state, pointing out that information is given to the press in a way that does not harm the citizen and the state alike, stressing that one of the most important benefits of obtaining information is citizens' knowledge of their rights. For his part, legal expert Ali Al-Tamimi criticized the failure to legislate laws on freedom of expression, the right to obtain information and cybercrimes, adding that these laws are basic pillars of journalistic and media work through which the work of the Fourth Authority in Iraq can be activated and developed.
