The Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Diab, announced today, Wednesday, a decrease in the percentage of salt concentrations in the waters of the Shatt al-Arab, while indicating the stability of the water quality in Basra Governorate.
The Ministry stated in a statement that “Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Dhiyab Abdullah, received the Governor of Basra, Asaad Al-Eidani,” indicating that “the two parties agreed during the meeting to continue joint work between the Ministry and Basra Governorate to maintain the sustainability of the stable water situation in the governorate by reducing the percentage of salt concentration.” .
The Minister of Water Resources confirmed, according to the statement, “the decrease in the percentage of salt concentrations in the waters of the Shatt al-Arab as a result of the continued water releases from the Karun River, which contributed to improving the quality of water in the Shatt al-Arab,” pointing out that “the stability of water quality in Basra Governorate came as a result of high-level cooperation.” Between the Ministry of Water Resources and the local government in Basra.
