    Today, Saturday, the Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Dhiyab Abdullah, directed the development of the Al-Ashar and Khandaq rivers and the removal of sediments and reeds in Basra Governorate.

    A statement from the Ministry of Water Resources, received by Al-Iqtisad News, stated that “The Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Dhiyab Abdullah, conducted a field tour in Basra Governorate, accompanied by the member of the Iraqi Parliament from Basra Governorate, Representative Yassin Al-Amiri.” He added that “the visit included Nazim Al-Ashar and Nahri.
    ” Al-Ashar and the ditch, for field inspection of them.”
    The Minister directed, “to rehabilitate parts of the system while improving the quality of the water, in order to give the place an aesthetic touch befitting the Basra Governorate.”
    He highlighted “the importance of the Al-Ashar River, which is considered the vital artery of the ancient heritage city of Basra,” directing The Ministry’s cadres in the province “initiate the work of developing the Ashar River and the Khandaq River and removing sediments and reeds, and starting from the Nazaran area with the re-implementation of 3 bridges starting from the Nazaran Bridge up to the Khandaq River, as this area is considered one of the heritage and tourist areas in Basra Governorate.”
