    The Communications and Media Commission granted a license to 3 fixed wireless Internet companies to improve services and support the digital transformation project in the country.
    A member of the Commission’s Board of Commissioners, Abdul Azim Al-Saleh, said in an interview with “Al-Sabah” followed by “Al-Iqtisad News,” that “the United Nations report for last year indicated that there is a shortage in the provision of Internet services in general due to the increasing demand for services that are accelerating in the world of technology, to be “There is an urgent need to provide him with additional services.”
    He added, “Although the fixed wireless or broadband service is somewhat old, it can be provided to citizens in various governorates of the country,” stressing that “the Authority’s Board of Commissioners decided to license three companies to enter the public auction so that there would be competition among them.”
    Al-Saleh pointed out that “one of these companies will be national and another governmental for the Ministry of Communications,” adding, “If the Ministry does not want or does not have the ability to do so, it will launch in a public auction and the third will be regional to provide this service in the governorate in which it operates.”
    A member of the Board of Commissioners confirmed that “the three fixed wireless companies and the other three mobile phone companies that provide the fourth generation Internet service, in addition to the FTTH services provided by the Ministry of Communications, will all be dedicated to providing Internet service to citizens within the country, and there will be competition among them.” In terms of service and prices.
