The Board of Commissioners of the Communications and Media Commission decided today, Saturday, to cancel the license of MBC channel in Iraq.
A statement received by "Mawazine News" stated that "based on our duty entrusted to us under the laws and legislation to regulate the media sector, prevent violations, and deter violators of national values and public morals, and in view of MBC satellite channel's violation of media broadcasting regulations through its repeated violations and its attacks on the martyrs, leaders of victory and heroic resistance leaders who are fighting the battle of honor against the usurping Zionist entity, we confirm that all necessary legal measures will be taken and it will be suspended from operating in Iraq, and we direct the executive body in our commission to cancel the operating license granted to it."
Dozens of angry demonstrators stormed the office of MBC satellite channel in the Al-Jami'a neighborhood in the capital, Baghdad, on Friday night, in protest against its broadcast of a report that insulted the symbols of the Arab and Islamic resistance, by describing them as "terrorists and militias."
