    Economy News _ Baghdad
Today, Wednesday, Baghdad Governorate revealed ongoing efforts to develop a new unified formula for the capital’s law with the aim of solving the problems of population expansion, dealing with slums, and improving laws related to ownership.
The Governor of Baghdad, Muhammad Jaber Al-Atta, indicated in an interview with the official Al-Sabah newspaper, followed by Al-Iqtisad News, that “there is an overlap in powers between the agencies implementing services that negatively affects the quality of services provided.”
Al-Atta explained, “Negotiations are underway with the State Council to develop a new, unified law for the capital that clearly defines powers, in order to ensure the provision of better services and effectiveness in dealing with current challenges,” stressing, “This law must be based on the principle of decentralization, with the reactivation of Municipal and local councils that are closer to the citizen.”
He pointed out that "previous drafts of the law did not meet the requirements of population expansion, treatment of slums, and laws related to ownership, but the current draft takes into account all current challenges."
He added that the governorate "permanently cooperates with the relevant authorities to resolve any interference that could affect services, whether with regard to infrastructure or security."
