    Baghdad today - Erbil
Today, Saturday (October 28, 2023), the Parliamentary Finance Committee revealed the date for Baghdad to send the salaries of Kurdistan employees, while indicating that the center will send the agreed upon funds to the region to pay the salaries of its employees.
Committee member Jamal Kujar said in a press statement followed by “Baghdad Today” that, “The central government will send the amount of (700) billion dinars to the Kurdistan Regional Government at the end of the current month of October, to cover and disburse employees’ salaries.”
He explained, "The central government does not view these funds as belonging to the salaries of the region's employees, but rather considers them part of the obligation to one of the institutions, and this is the reason behind the delay in sending them."
In mid-September, the Council of Ministers approved sending three batches to Kurdistan to pay salaries to employees in the region at a rate of 700 billion dinars for each batch, with a total of more than 2 trillion dinars.
The regional government distributed the first batch during the current month as salaries for the month of July, while it is hoped that the salaries for the remaining months will arrive gradually until the end of the year.
The Minister of Finance and Economy of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Awat Sheikh Janab, who visited Baghdad earlier, accompanied by a delegation from the Kurdistan Government, confirmed the existence of a joint understanding with the federal government to address the issue of salaries of the region’s employees, and keep it away from political differences.
