The Kurdistan Regional Government decided to send a delegation to Baghdad in the middle of this week in order to settle the amount of the cash loan that it agreed with the federal government to send to pay employees’ salaries.
A statement by the spokesman for the regional government, Peshwa Hawrami, said, “It was scheduled to send an amount of 700 billion dinars for the salaries of employees in the Kurdistan Region last week,” adding that “once upon a time, and contrary to all the statements and conversations within the meetings and the agreement to send the amount, sending the amount was delayed.”
The statement explained, “A delegation from the region will go to Baghdad this week, and the federal government will meet next Tuesday, and we want to issue a final and radical decision in this regard, so that the region’s employees are not harmed or caused difficulties.”
Hawrami added, “In the past period, the regional government has demonstrated its clear intentions to agree and reach a result with the federal government, and there is nothing left for the regional government to do, adding that if things continue like this, the regional government will not be able to remain silent regarding the violation of the constitutional rights of the people of the Kurdistan Region.” .
The Minister of Finance and Economy in the Kurdistan Region, Awat Sheikh Janab Nouri, announced on Thursday, October 19, that the federal government will send 700 billion dinars next week to the region to finance salaries for employees and workers in the public sector.
