The Ministry of Communications stated that the implementation of the fourth mobile phone license project in the country is linked to the decision to approve it from the Communications and Media Commission, to proceed with its implementation procedures.
The official spokesman for the ministry, Omar Al-Amiri, told Al-Sabah: A strategic study for the fourth license project was prepared during the past months in coordination with a specialized technical consulting company, noting that the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers supported the study of the project as it is the first of its kind in the country.
He added that his ministry is awaiting the issuance of the license to initiate the executive procedures for the project, denying the existence of any technical or legal problems related to the project, pointing out that there is smoothness in facilitating the process of preparing for its implementation, as well as effective cooperation by the relevant authorities in order to facilitate the implementation of the project and make its work successful.
Al-Amiri explained that the implementation of the fourth license project will result in the establishment of a national mobile phone company in the country, with a large percentage of its revenues going to the federal government, and it will be managed by the Ministry of Communications as the concerned and specialized body in the project, which in turn will work in cooperation with one of the international companies to operate it, revealing that The possibility of some other private or governmental bodies or citizens contributing to support the project and make its work successful.
He stressed the project's contribution to providing modern, advanced, high-quality communications and Internet services at subsidized prices, in addition to the fact that it will achieve a good financial return, and at the same time it will encourage competition between mobile phone companies operating in the country in providing various offers to citizens at reasonable prices and of high quality, since the project is national. .
