The Communications and Media Commission reported that it has reserved frequency spectrum for the fourth mobile phone license, and it will be activated in cooperation with one of the mobile companies.
A member of the Board of Commissioners in the Authority, Abdel Azim Muhammad, said in an interview with “Al-Sabah”: “The issue of the fourth mobile phone license was presented to the Board of Commissioners, which had previously taken a decision regarding it, which is to facilitate procedures, including reserving frequency spectrum, in addition to other means by which It can help its success from establishment to operation.”
He added, "This license will be added to three companies that have previously worked in Iraq," stressing that "this license will be operated by the Ministry of Communications in cooperation with one of the companies it chooses that has experience in the field of mobile phones."
Muhammad ruled out “expectations that talked about the authority obstructing the procedures for establishing the fourth license,” noting that “the authority studies and looks after the interests of the triangle consisting of the government, the citizen, and companies, which must be at the same distance from everyone,” pointing out that “it is not possible to favor one party over another.” Another is to ensure fair competition between companies operating in the country and the new license that will work alongside them.”
