    Baghdad today - Baghdad
Iraq and the United States of America are linked to a security agreement, or what is called the “Strategic Framework Agreement,” according to whose paragraphs determine aspects of military and security cooperation between Baghdad and Washington. Despite the agreement, which accuses Washington of not fulfilling and adhering to its paragraphs, the Iraqi bases that host American forces, or what are called “advisers,” are witnessing “After the defeat of ISIS, there were repeated attacks by missiles and drones.
According to observers, the increasing targeting of the American presence in Iraq exposes the government to embarrassment, as it is the party responsible for protecting the American presence, which came after official Iraqi approvals. According to statements by Iraqi officials.
Security expert Mukhled Hazem said today, Wednesday (November 1, 2023), that Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani feels embarrassed by the repeated targeting of American bases in Iraq.
Hazem confirms in an interview with “Baghdad Today”: “If we want to talk about the American presence in Iraq, we are linked with Washington by the strategic framework agreement, and today, according to this agreement, there is a group of American advisors at the bases of Ain al-Assad, al-Harir, and Victoria.”
He continues, "Iraq cannot renounce this agreement, and it must also protect American interests, and any targeting of them exposes the Sudanese government to danger."
The expert points out, "The government must have a clear vision in dealing with the American forces and the factions. If we are talking about a sovereign country, the pace of the factions must be controlled and the state must look out for its interests. If the targeting continues, we will witness an American response to the factions' headquarters in the coming period."
The frequency of attacks on Iraqi bases hosting the international coalition forces to defeat ISIS, with missiles and suicide drones, has escalated since the bombing of Al-Baptist Hospital in the Palestinian city of Gaza. Most of them were claimed by armed factions calling themselves the “Islamic Resistance in Iraq,” while US President Joe Biden vowed to respond if The attacks were repeated, and this actually happened, as headquarters belonging to these factions were targeted, but outside the Iraqi borders, in addition to logistical support convoys affiliated with them, according to data from the US Department of Defense.
