Yesterday, Tuesday, the Ministry of Commerce identified the materials included in the construction basket, and while clarifying the mechanism for selling them to citizens, it indicated the intention to launch a pharmaceutical basket and another for machines and cars.
The official spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce, Muthanna Jabbar, said: “Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani visited the headquarters of the Ministry of Commerce and held a meeting with the advanced staff in the ministry, and praised the ministry’s efforts in the field of securing the food basket and strategic storage,” indicating that he “asked the ministry to inform itself in addition to To the main mission, which is to provide the food basket, flour, and strategic storage.
He added, “The Ministry of Commerce is a Ministry of Economy, and it must carry out its economic tasks, and provide real visions in accordance with the government program on the subject of the internal economy and the internal and external market,” pointing out that “The Prime Minister stated that the Ministry of Commerce is the basic pillar in the steps of economic reform and combating corruption.” He continued, “Among the tasks of the Ministry of Commerce is to discuss with the private sector, learn about the problems of the private sector, and provide new strategic solutions for the private sector that is disciplined with laws and instructions,” explaining that “the Prime Minister stressed that the food basket has created a state of great balance in the food market, so there must be A construction basket that depends primarily on competition, speculation, and the provision of construction materials for construction and infrastructure, similar to the issue of selling in convenient installments, and providing these materials with lighting, electrical, pipes, glass, and ceramic materials, which are provided through import and partnership with international agencies.”
He stated that “these materials will be available in the form of a basket or a quota offered to those wishing to build, at reduced profits and in the form of comfortable installments, enabling the Iraqi citizen who is about to build to provide the main materials at low prices and in comfortable installments.”
He stated that “the Prime Minister confirmed that the government is about to launch a medicine basket for people with chronic diseases and provide it through health departments,” explaining that he “touched a new topic, which is the topic of the integrated deal that covers the entire baskets, which are the food basket, the construction basket, the medicine basket, and the basket of supplies, machinery, and cars.” . He pointed out that “these four baskets can cover the needs of the Iraqi consumer,” explaining that “there is a promising program with the Prime Minister regarding the registrar of companies, and Jabbar confirmed that “the program has been completed, and there are 52 electronic services provided by the registrars of companies to the private sector,” explaining “The paperwork has been completed, and the company owner only needs to come on the day of receiving his company’s registration and final registration documents, as there is no friction between those wishing to register the company.”

He stressed that “the approved facilities now for rebar are in the General Company for Construction Materials Trading, which contracted to bring rebar of Saudi origin, which is new to the Iraqi consumer and with high specifications. As for the electrical materials and pipes, the contract was with the Turkish origin, as the materials entered the warehouses, and the rest Ceramic and sanitary ware materials are present and available, and there are official contracts concluded with Saudi and Turkish origins
