[size=45]After the launch of the tenth meal of the food basket, the Ministry of Commerce began its move to improve the vocabulary of that basket by adding materials to it, while referring to the preservation of the local market.[/size]
[size=45]In May 2021, the Council of Ministers approved the proposals of the Ministry of Commerce regarding the preparation of a food basket, for which the Ministry of Finance will secure the financial allocations, which fall within the ration card allocations established in the 2021 budget.[/size]
[size=45]And the spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce, Muhammad Hanoun, said that “the emergency support and food security law focused on three axes, which are improving the vocabulary of the food basket in terms of quality, paying the dues of farmers and farmers during the marketing season for wheat, in addition to securing strategic stocks of wheat in anticipation of its need in the coming seasons and for a period of time.” At least 6 months.”[/size]
[size=45]Hanoun pointed out that "there is a plan to contract to buy one million tons of foreign wheat to secure storage for the first months of next year, within government contracting mechanisms."[/size]

[size=45]For his part, economic researcher and academic Safwan Qusay said, “The priority of the Ministry of Trade’s work is to study all food products and local agricultural crops in order to provide a food basket distributed from local production, in addition to the ration materials.”[/size]
[size=45]Qusay said, "Reducing major materials and replacing them with other materials that the citizen considers secondary, is a patchwork measure, and is not commensurate with the amount of financial allocations allocated to the ministry, whether from annual budgets or through the emergency support law."[/size]
[size=45]He pointed out, "Citizens need to see serious measures in developing the food basket, especially after the rise in oil prices, in order to restore their confidence in the Ministry of Commerce."[/size]
[size=45]In turn, the Assistant General Director of the General Company for Foodstuff Trading in the Ministry of Commerce, Talib Abbas Al-Hamdani, says that “the work of the General Company for Foodstuff Trading, includes that the food basket be in one batch in cutting and processing,” noting that “after two weeks, the eleventh quota will be cut off.” From the food basket, until the citizens are fully satisfied with the materials.”[/size]

[size=45]He pointed out that “the effects of this have become clear in the market in relation to prices, as the citizen does not need to purchase any food item, and therefore the Ministry of Commerce has maintained this distribution on the internal market for foodstuffs compared to regional countries in light of the global crisis,” noting, that “there will be In the future, work to improve the food basket by adding materials to it.”[/size]
[size=45]The Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani, had directed yesterday, Friday, the improvement of the quality of the ration card materials and commitment to the distribution dates.[/size]
