Atheer Al-Sharaa: Continued attacks on American military bases will expose Iraq to economic sanctions

The Iraqi writer and political analyst, Atheer Al-Sharaa, confirmed today, Friday, that the continuation of “armed groups” targeting American military bases will expose Iraq to economic sanctions.
Atheer Al-Sharaa said, “After the attack launched by Hamas on Israel on the seventh of last October, and the outbreak of war between them, Iraq, Lebanon, and the rest of the countries of the region must exercise the harshest levels of restraint.”
He added: “There is a project calling on armed groups in the region to attack the interests of the United States of America in the Middle East,” noting that “this project is being used by some parties to attack the United States, but the Iraqi government must not allow the country to be drawn into regional conflicts.”
He continued: “The Iraqi government must stop militia attacks on American military bases and headquarters in the country,” stressing that “militia attacks on American military bases and headquarters are a message to the United States that we can reach your bases and target them.”
He stressed that “the United States does not want to expand the scope of the conflict between Hamas and Israel, and there is a good understanding between Washington and the federal government to stop attacks on American military bases in Iraq.”
He pointed out that “the United States has intensified its efforts to release the hostages held by Hamas, and it also wants to reduce the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, because America realizes that if the scope of the conflict expands, the entire Middle East will become threatened.”
The Pentagon announced that 56 soldiers suffered minor injuries or cerebral concussions in 46 attacks in Iraq and Syria since last October 17.
The Ministry stressed that if attacks against its forces continue, “it will not hesitate to take additional necessary measures to protect its personnel.”
Earlier, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said during an unannounced visit to Baghdad that the attacks against American forces in Iraq and Syria are “completely unacceptable.”
According to figures announced by the Pentagon, between October 17 and November 3, 17 attacks occurred in Iraq and 12 in Syria.
The United States, which maintains about 2,500 soldiers in Iraq, accuses Iran of being indirectly involved in these attacks, which also affected its forces in Syria.
Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani condemned these attacks, directing the security forces to “track and trace the elements carrying out these attacks
