Today (Wednesday, November 15, 2023), His Excellency Mr. Nechirvan Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region, received Mr. Volker Persis, Head of the Independent Team for the Strategic Review of the Tasks of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI).[/size]
[size=45]In the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on Mr. Persis’s mission and visit to Iraq and his meetings and meetings with senior Iraqi officials, and they highlighted the tasks and work of United Nations teams and agencies in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
In addition to expressing thanks and appreciation for the role and support of the United Nations, its agencies and organizations for Iraq in various fields, His Excellency President Nechirvan Barzani referred to the efforts and work of UNAMI, which helped Iraq, after the liberation process, achieve stability, advance democracy, and improve the performance of institutions.[/size]
[size=45]For his part, Mr. Persis presented the visions and viewpoints related to the UNAMI mission in Iraq and called on Iraq to review the tasks of the UN mission. He praised the observations and opinions of His Excellency the President of the Kurdistan Region regarding the work and tasks of the United Nations and its agencies in assisting and supporting Iraq.[/size]
