    During his meeting today with the ambassadors of Britain, France, Germany and Canada, the Minister of the Environment, Nizar Amedi, confirmed the success of the Iraqi government in opening up to the international community and enhancing the spirit of friendship and working partnerships in the environmental sector, especially the climate change file. The Minister of the Environment reviewed Iraq’s preparations to participate in the Conference of the Parties in the Emirates and support and coordination for Iraq’s vision. The various programmes, plans, projects and investment prepared by the sectoral ministries and the preparations of the negotiating team to present mitigation and adaptation projects and programs in the face of the effects of climate change, in addition to the call to contribute to providing Iraq with expertise and experience in implementing the strategy to reduce pollution 2023-2030 and the transition to a sustainable green Iraq, as the Minister of Environment stated
    . A national climate change committee headed by the Ministry of Environment and membership of sectoral ministries, and Iraq’s efforts to support a sustainable green economy and create economic diversification, and the launch by the Ministries of Oil and Electricity and the Iraqi Investment Authority of investment projects within the Iraqi pavilion, and a call to participate in a regional conference scheduled to be held in Baghdad early next year.
     The Minister of Environment added that an Iraqi paper and vision has been prepared that includes 4 axes that will be addressed in the 28th COP, which are the global goal of adaptation, climate financing, losses and damages, and the issue of mitigation, with a focus on the issue of technology transfer and capacity building, to support the achievement of sustainable development goals, stressing that the ministry seeks to establish A public company linked to the environment that specializes in following up on carbon bonds to benefit from international financing mechanisms and constitutes a serious shift in Iraq’s efforts to activate the carbon mechanism. 
    For their part, the ambassadors expressed their country's desire to expand the horizons of cooperation with Iraq, praised the efforts provided by the Ministry of Environment, and expressed their countries' readiness to implement projects to invest in renewable energies, exploit associated gas, optimize the use of water sources, and the readiness of scientific institutions and universities to enter the environmental field, as well as organizations. Non-governmental organizations, the private sector, and experts to work in Iraq and support its efforts to reduce climate change and its repercussions.
    The meeting was attended by the Technical Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment, Jassim Al-Falahi, and Dr. Nazir Abboud, Advisor to the Ministry of Environment, Director General of the Environmental Awareness and Media Department, Amir Ali Al-Hassoun, Director General of the Mine Affairs Department, Shawkat Tayeh, and Director of Climate Change, Yousef Moayed.
