Parliamentarians described Iraq's position towards the events in Gaza as ahead of all Arab and international positions and that Parliament's decision is firm on the Palestinian issue, stressing their support for the Palestinian people in achieving their aspirations and obtaining their full legitimate rights.
Representative Haider Tariq Al-Shamkhi said, in an interview with “Al-Sabah”: The House of Representatives had a voice in support of the Palestinian cause and was against the war and the siege on the people of Gaza, and expressed its rejection of the genocide operations against children and women, which in their ugliness amount to calling them humanitarian disasters.
He pointed out that the Iraqi government expressed the position of all Iraqis in its calls to support our people in Palestine. It also demanded in several forums that the Arab countries and the world have a clear position on what happened and is happening and to stop the destruction and massacres of killing of innocent civilians, noting that Parliament’s position is progressive towards the Palestinian issue and we will demand all parliaments of the world. The Arab League should take clear positions in support of the people of Gaza, just as Iraq is unique in its position regarding these events.
For his part, MP Yasser Al-Hassani pointed out, in an interview with Al-Sabah, that Iraq’s position on the events in Gaza and the issue of attacks on the Palestinians is a solid position, and Iraq is leading efforts to stop these attacks, bring peace, and open ports for delivering aid urgently, explaining that what is happening There are genocides and war crimes in Gaza, and those responsible for them must be held accountable.
He added that the Iraqis, the people and government, are in solidarity with the Palestinian cause, and blood is boiling with all the scenes of killing and extermination of women and children, as we call on the Islamic and Arab community to move quickly and take actual measures to stop the bloodshed, away from speeches and conferences that are devoid of content of benefit to this oppressed people.
In a related context, Representative Dhia al-Hindi explained that the Iraqi and Palestinian peoples have a fraternal relationship that transcends all considerations, which made Iraq take an advanced position among countries against the heinous humanitarian crimes committed by the Zionist entity against women and children.
He described the speech of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani during the summit held in Egypt as the clearest, most courageous and most rejectionist of what is happening in Gaza, during which he affirmed complete reservations about the Zionist attacks against the Palestinians, and an urgent and immediate halt to the genocide against the people of Gaza.
