Baghdad/Al-Masala Al-Hadath: The Parliamentary Finance Committee revealed an important session between the governments of Baghdad and Erbil regarding amending the budget law and the salaries of Kurdistan Region employees.
Committee member Jamal Cougar said that communication is better than interruption, and an important session may be held tomorrow, Thursday, related to the issue of amending the 2023 budget law, in which the proposed solutions to resolve the salary crisis for the region’s employees will be discussed.
He added that if nothing new happens, tomorrow there will be a committee consisting of advisors from the Council of Ministers, members of the Kurdistan Regional Government delegation, and members of the Parliamentary Finance Committee.
A few days ago, the Ministry of Finance announced the launch of a loan worth 700 billion dinars to finance the salaries of the region’s employees.
The ministry said that, in implementation of the directives of the Prime Minister and the follow-up of the Minister of Finance, Taif Sami Muhammad, the ministry issued letters on Friday granting the regional government a loan worth 700 billion dinars to cover the salaries of the region’s employees, guaranteed by a deposit provided to the Federal Ministry of Finance, provided that it is settled from the region’s dues after their commitment to the terms. The Budget Law, based on the approval of the Council of Ministers and in implementation of its Resolution No. (23520) of 2023.
