The Oil, Gas and Natural Resources Committee in the House of Representatives indicated that there are 8 controversial points delaying the resumption of oil exports through the Turkish Ceyhan port.
Committee member Ali Al-Mashkoor told Al-Sabah: All eight points of contention are with the region, and not resolving them will keep the issue pending for a longer period, indicating that the negotiations were able to resolve two points: that the oil be the source and the party authorized to receive the funds is the “SOMO” company, as it It is known globally for exporting Iraqi oil. In addition, the central government has a role in the oil exported from the region.
He pointed out that the pipeline is fully ready for export, but the difference in the quality of contracts concluded with oil companies operating in the region and their counterparts operating in the center and south led to confusion with the first companies refusing to resume production and then begin exporting through the Ceyhan port.
Al-Mashkoor added that the production of foreign companies within the region is much greater than the rest of the companies, and this is what the central government and the Ministry of Oil do not accept, as it causes embarrassment to the rest of the companies and thus causes a lot of downtime.
