Asadi launched a campaign to pave and cover more than four million square meters of the capital’s streets and sides as part of the “Baghdad is More Beautiful” campaign.
Assistant to Rusafa County in the projects department of the secretariat, Saddam Kamel, said in a statement to “Al-Sabah”: The secretariat, within the “Baghdad is More Beautiful” campaign, launched a plan to rehabilitate more than four million square meters of the capital’s streets, and divided it by 200,000 square meters between all municipal departments, with the exception of The municipalities of Karrada, Adhamiya, Al-Ghadeer and New Baghdad, which will cover and pave 400 thousand square meters.
He explained that the work includes sweeping and paving the streets, pointing out that there are many streets whose work has been fully completed, in addition to implementing expansion works for many streets and intersections as part of projects to relieve traffic congestion, in addition to constructing service streets in some streets and covering their shoulders with muqarnas.
Kamel stated that the municipal departments achieved varying percentages of completing the rehabilitation work, such as the People’s Municipality, which achieved 90 percent, while in Rusafa it was 100 percent, indicating the continuation of the rehabilitation work of the (Baghdad-Kirkuk) entrance, with a length of nine kilometers, and included pouring the expansion paths and replacement works, with Expanding the entrance to a width of 16 meters per side, in addition to creating a service street on both sides of the road with a width of eight
metres.
