    Baghdad today - Erbil
Kurdish politician Sardar Mustafa confirmed today, Tuesday (January 9, 2024), that the Kurds will constitute a need in the next stage for the various political parties in Iraq.
Mustafa said in an interview with "Baghdad Today" that "the need for the Kurds, specifically the Kurdistan Democratic Party, will increase in the Nineveh and Kirkuk governorates."
He added, "The need for the Kurds and the request for a coordination framework for political stability will push towards making concessions in the negotiations taking place in the capital, Baghdad, regarding the budget, the oil and gas law, and other files."
Mustafa pointed out, "For example, in Nineveh Governorate, the coordination framework with its various blocs has 12 seats, while the bloc of former Nineveh Governor Najm al-Jubouri and its alliance has 13 seats, and both of them need the seats of the Kurdistan Democratic Party to form a majority."
Earlier today, Tuesday (January 9, 2024), a political source revealed the details of the formation of the next local government in Nineveh Governorate, while indicating that there are two alliances that do not constitute a majority at this moment.
The source said in an interview with "Baghdad Today", "The coordination framework has 12 seats, separated into the National Contract Bloc led by Faleh Al-Fayyad, which has three seats, and the Hadbaa Bloc, which has two seats, in addition to the Babylon Alliance, which has three seats, and the Shabak Quota, which has two seats." It has one seat, in addition to the Yazidi quota, which has one seat, and the National Union, which has two seats.”
He added, "Two days ago, a meeting took place that included the Nineveh Bloc, led by former Nineveh Governor Najm al-Jubouri, the Sovereignty Alliance, the Decisive Alliance, the Progress Alliance, the Renewal Alliance, and the Azm Alliance, which includes 13 seats."
The source pointed out, "The two alliances do not constitute a majority, because the majority in the upcoming Nineveh Governorate Council needs a bloc that has 15 seats, and therefore there is a need for seats from the Kurdistan Democratic Party bloc, which has 4 seats."
