    [rtl]The Director General of Industry, Mines and Trade in the Iranian Azerbaijan Province, Muhammad Jafar Azmaei, announced that $1.2 billion worth of non-oil goods were exported from this province to 102 countries in the world during the first 9 months of the current Iranian year (which began on March 21), of which 239 One million dollars to Iraq.[/rtl]
    [rtl]The official who was speaking to reporters pointed to "the importance of increasing trade exchange in the growth and development of the economy," and said that "the value of goods exported from this governorate to Turkey amounted to 334 million dollars, then Iraq, whose export value of goods it imported amounted to 239 million dollars."[/rtl]
     
    [rtl]Muhammad Jafar Azmaei confirmed that “Armenia comes after Iraq, which imported a value of 160 million dollars, then the Republic of Azerbaijan, whose exports from the Iranian province reached 44 million dollars, and then the Republic of Georgia, which imported a value of 40 million dollars.”[/rtl]
     
    [rtl]The Director General of Industry, Mines and Trade in East Azerbaijan Province continued, saying: “In this province, 350 commercial cards were issued and 650 cards were extended during the first 9 months of the current Iranian year.”[/rtl]
     
    [rtl]Iranian Azerbaijan is a region in northwestern Iran on the border with Iraq and Turkey, and is administratively divided into West Azerbaijan Governorate, East Azerbaijan Governorate, Ardabil Governorate, and Zanjan Governorate.[/rtl]

    [rtl]Before the Russo-Persian Wars of the 19th century, the Azerbaijani people were distributed throughout the northwestern Persian Empire, with their concentration in the Persian provinces that currently correspond to Iranian Azerbaijan and the Republic of Azerbaijan.[/rtl]
     
    [rtl]After military defeats at the hands of the Russian Empire, the Qajars in Persia ceded their lands in the North Caucasus and the Caucasus to Russia in implementation of the contents of the Treaty of Golestan in 1813 and the Treaty of Turkmanjay in 1828. Since then, the Azerbaijani people have been divided into several nations, and the lands south of the Aras River have become , comprising the region historically known as Azerbaijan, the new northwestern frontier of the Persian Empire and later Iran.[/rtl]
     
    [rtl]As for the lands north of the Aras River, which were not previously known as Azerbaijan at the time of Russia's seizure of them, they were annexed under the banner of the Russian Empire, which was then called the Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan during the short period of independence between 1918 and 1920, where it was then included within the territory of the Soviet Union. In the name of the Azerbaijani Soviet Socialist Republic, until it became an independent republic in the name of the Republic of Azerbaijan after the dissolution of the Soviet Union.[/rtl]
