Yesterday, Wednesday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani considered the Baghdad International Fair one of the aspects of the relationship between Iraq and friendly countries, while he reaffirmed the government’s continued approach to reconstruction, construction, and improving infrastructure.
In his speech at the opening of the exhibition in its 47th session with wide international participation, Al-Sudani welcomed “brothers, friends, companies and businessmen in peace in Baghdad,” indicating that “the government set a title, not a slogan, which is establishing real partnerships with sisterly countries.”
He added, "Today was a special day, as in the morning we laid the foundation stone for the construction of a bridge on the Tigris River," pointing out that "the process of development and work for a strong, stable and prosperous Iraq has begun, and we are following the diligent procedures of the Ministry of Commerce in registering companies."
He pointed out that "we are proceeding with confidence in implementing the development road project," calling on "companies and investors to engage with the Iraqi private sector."
Meanwhile, yesterday morning, the Prime Minister launched work on a new multi-lane bridge project on the Tigris River in the Jadriya area, linking the two banks of the river, and the expansion of Abu Nawas Road, within the first package of projects to relieve traffic congestion approved for the capital, Baghdad.
Al-Sudani said in his speech during the launch of the bridge project: “The projects were not implemented in an easy way, as the government faces many challenges,” stressing that “there are those who try to keep us busy with this or that file, but they face a solid will and determination to continue with this work methodology and never back down from that.” ".
The project launched by the Prime Minister includes linking the Karrada area on the Rusafa side to Nisour Square on the Karkh side with a bridge for vehicles to pass through Wedding Island with a length of 550 metres. It also includes the construction of a bridge parallel to the river’s watercourse with a length of 2,650 metres, and the expansion of Abu Nawas Road on sections created on the ground. Or in the form of a bridge parallel to the river, and adding another bridge linking Wedding Island to Nisour Square, with a length of 850 meters.
The Prime Minister received an invitation from Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid to participate in the World Government Summit 2024, which will be held in the Emirates next February.
Upon receiving the United Arab Emirates Ambassador to Baghdad, Salem Al Zaabi, Al-Sudani stressed the depth of the relationship between Iraq and the Emirates, pointing out the importance of the global summit and its vital impact on providing various forms of services to citizens, and praised the Emirates government and its leadership in the field of e-government.
