The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Tuesday that it had summoned the Iranian Chargé d'Affairs in Baghdad and handed him a protest note.
The Ministry stated in a statement received by Mawazine News that “the Acting Head of the Neighboring Countries Department, Muhammad Redha Al-Husseini, delivered a protest note to the Iranian Chargé d’Affairs in Baghdad, Abu Al-Fadl Azizi.”
The statement added, "The memorandum included the Republic of Iraq's strong condemnation and denunciation of the attack on a number of areas in Erbil, which led to civilian casualties and caused damage to public and private property."
The Ministry confirmed, according to the statement, that "this attack is a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the Republic of Iraq, and is in severe conflict with the principles of good neighborliness and international law and threatens the security of the region."
