The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, said yesterday, Wednesday, that the future of energy is of great concern to Iraq and the countries of the world.
Yesterday, the President of the Republic sponsored a panel discussion on (Energy Security and Future in Iraq) organized by the Department of Planning and Development, in cooperation with the Presidency of the Republic, and in coordination with the Ministries of Oil and Electricity.
The President of the Republic said in his speech: “The future of energy occupies a fundamental aspect of countries’ concerns, and research institutions and study centers are working on it due to its importance in the present and future for oil-producing countries.”
He added, “The world’s efforts today are directed towards preserving the cleanliness of the environment and life, and these efforts seek to develop the potential of working with renewable energy and reduce the use of fossil fuels to the maximum possible extent.”
He added, “Iraq is committed to many international conventions concerned with the environment and its cleanliness,” stressing “the keenness to strengthen efforts to preserve the environment, as well as diversifying sources of income and developing work in various fields, which leads to reducing rentier dependence on oil mainly in financial management.” “For Iraq.”
He continued, “The mission of researchers and experts is to mature the plans and goals of state institutions and develop their work, to achieve the goals of the government program that seeks to achieve progress in these areas.”
For his part, Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, Hayyan Abdul-Ghani, delivered a speech in which he pointed to “the challenges the country faces from the impact of climate change,” stressing that “the Ministry of Oil doubled production to (4.7) million barrels during the past ten years, occupying Iraq.” One-fifth of the global increase in production achieved during that period.”
He added, “The final statement of the Conference of the Parties referred to the adoption of transitional fuels as one of the pillars of transformation, which was already present years ago in our national and ministerial vision for the gas industry,” noting that “the Iraqi energy file is on the cusp of an important stage in which we need to establish an integrated strategy for energy transformation.” And reduce emissions, so that the transition will be a source of revitalization of the Iraqi economy and the well-being of the country.”
In turn, the Minister of Electricity noted, in his speech, that “Iraq is one of the basic pillars of energy,” noting that “the state’s possession of energy sources, especially electricity, has its effects reflected in the rapid rotation of the wheel of the national economy, in addition to the economic and political advantages that support stability.”
He explained, “The Ministry of Electricity worked through its plans to improve the level of electricity service, as it is one of the most important components of energy security in Iraq and one of the pillars of national security, in terms of ensuring operational requirements, adequacy, flexibility, reliability, and stability of the electrical system in Iraq.[/size]
