Advisor to the Prime Minister for Pharmaceutical Industries, Hamoudi Al-Lami, announced the production of new types of medicines locally, including 12 to treat “hypertension” and 11 to treat “diabetes.”
Al-Lami said in a televised statement followed by Al-Iqtisad News, “The number of registered medicines increased from 244 medicines for the year 2022 to 415 medicines for the year 2023, including 338 registered for the first time.”
He added, "For the first time, the treatments include new medications that have not been produced previously, including 12 types to treat blood pressure, 11 types to treat diabetes, and 14 new antibiotics," noting that there are "17 types of cancer treatment medications and 6 medications to treat blood diseases."
