The Supreme Judicial Council stated in a statement received by Al-Sumaria News, that the Judicial Institute organized today, Saturday, February 17, 2024, a graduation ceremony for the students of the 44th session at the Judicial Institute in the presence of the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Dr. Faiq Zaidan, and the President of the Federal Court, his deputy, and the two deputy presidents of the Court. Cassation, a number of its judges, members of the Judicial Institute Council, the President of the State Council, the President of the Union of Jurists, the President of the Bar Association, and lecturers.

The President of the Council said during his speech at the ceremony, “The number of judges and members of the public prosecution currently is not proportional to the number of people in Iraq according to international standards, so the Supreme Judicial Council adopted a new strategy based on increasing the number of those accepted to study at the Judicial Institute to increase the number of judges and members of the public prosecution.” ".

Judge Faiq Zaidan added, “At the same time, the judiciary emphasizes taking into account the qualitative standard in selecting judges and that there is no need to increase the number at the expense of competence and possibility, because any error in the selection reflects negatively on the result that we all seek in creating a judiciary capable of doing justice to the disputants and delivering justice to the disputants. The rights go to their owners.”

He continued, "In this strategy, the judiciary was keen to have a special course for the public prosecution, which will be repeated every year in parallel with the judges' courses, to provide the public prosecution apparatus with additional numbers that cover the actual need for this apparatus, given the important role it plays," pointing out that "the institute embraced for the first time "More than two sessions of judges in the same year in a race against time to meet the urgent need to increase the number of judges."

Judge Faiq Zaidan addressed the graduates of the 44th session, advising them to “ensure to apply the law impartially, preserve the independence of the judiciary, and cooperate with the competent authorities in maintaining security and order, preserving public and private funds, protecting the expression of opinion, and respecting human rights.”

It is noteworthy that the (44th) session included (32) male and (5) female judges.
