    Economy News - Baghdad
The security coordinator for projects to relieve traffic congestion and the follow-up staff officer in the Council of Ministers, Major General Jassim Al-Zubaidi, revealed that a campaign had been launched to remove violations on the banks of the Tigris River.
Al-Zubaidi said, “A meeting was held last week with general directors of the Real Estate Registry at the Ministry of Justice, the General Authority for Surveying at the Ministry of Water Resources, and the municipalities of Doura, Al-Rashid, and Baghdad Agriculture to determine the banks of the Tigris River and remove violations within the administrative borders of the capital,” according to the official newspaper.
He pointed out that "the transgressors caused confusion in some areas, including Al-Bu Aitha, in addition to their presence in the face of the flood wave, stressing that the transgressors caused damage to the soft areas that were wide and have recently become narrow."
Al-Zubaidi stated, “The trespassers caused the accumulation of rubble on the banks of the rivers, encroaching on the citizens’ share, and distorting its appearance instead of making it a beautiful place for rest and recreation for the citizen, like what is found in the Abu Nawas Corniche, Adhamiya, and Kadhimiya.”
He pointed out that whoever “incentivized these transgressors to build their homes and projects on these lands is known and legal measures will be taken against him,” noting that a campaign to remove the violations will take place even if these projects cost billions, as the first and last goal is to restore the beauty of these areas instead of making them visual distortions.
