The Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhaibas Al-Saadawi, reported yesterday, Monday, that the implementation of the (IFC) agreement to develop Baghdad International Airport will soon begin.
Al-Saadawi said, in a statement: “The coming days will witness the implementation of the agreement signed with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), which stipulates the rehabilitation and development of Baghdad International Airport,” stressing that “the General Company for Airports and Air Navigation Management will begin the work of rehabilitating the airport hotel soon.”
He added, "The Ministry intends to invite the International Finance Corporation to its strategic vision for preparing Baghdad International Airport in a way that meets global requirements," noting that "the Ministry is interested in rehabilitating and developing Baghdad International Airport as it represents Iraq's interface with the world." He pointed out that "the Ministry has a comprehensive vision to develop all airports and improve their services," explaining that "the agreement with the International Finance Corporation includes providing an integrated investment portfolio that includes how the international airport will be expanded, financed, operated and maintained, in accordance with international standards for airports around the world." He continued, "This agreement aims to raise the efficiency of the airport, its facilities and safety factors."
