    The Ministry of Agriculture announced that it will provide a new reduction in the prices of raw materials and fuel provided to owners of feed factories in the country, with the aim of supporting livestock breeders in order to reduce the current rise in red meat prices.
    Local markets have recently witnessed a significant increase in the selling prices of red meat, ahead of the advent of the holy month, as the price of one kilogram of sheep meat reached 25 thousand dinars, and veal meat reached 20 thousand dinars, compared to 18 thousand for the first type, and 16 thousand for the second type weeks ago. . 
    Assistant Director of the Ministry’s Agricultural Investments Department, Dr. Hussein Ismail Hussein, said in an interview with “Al-Sabah” followed by “Al-Iqtisad News” that the decision comes after the recent increase in the selling prices of red meat, which livestock breeders attributed to the rise in local feed prices, adding that feed mill owners attributed The rise to the point that the support provided by his ministry for raw materials and fuel does not meet its needs in a way that would reduce the costs of produced feed. 
    He pointed out that during the 1980s, the state owned government fodder factories distributed between Baghdad and the governorates of Wasit, Dhi Qar, Maysan, and Muthanna, but they were destroyed during the years 1987 and 1990, which led the government to sell them to a private sector company, which stopped as a result of wars and economic sanctions.     Hussein stated that supporting the poultry, cows, calves, and fish breeding sectors in the country by supplying them with feed at reduced prices, as well as completing the breeding and production plan within the country, will contribute significantly to serving breeders and citizens, as well as supporting the national economy with high-quality technical specifications that match their imported counterparts.
