Today, Saturday, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) indicated a new decline in the average global basic food commodity price index last February by 13.8 points, equivalent to 10.5%, compared to the same month in 2023, driven mainly by a decline in global grain prices.

At the monthly sub-level, the FAO Cereal Price Index decreased last February to 113.8 points, which is 6.1 points, equivalent to 5 percent, lower than the previous month, and 32.9 points, equivalent to 22.4 percent, lower than its level in February 2023, with international prices for all major cereals from One month to the next.
The vegetable oil price index also fell to 120.9 points, 1.6 points lower, equivalent to 1.3 percent, last February than the previous month, and 15 points lower, equivalent to 11 percent, than its level in February of last year.
On the other hand, sugar price indices rose last February to 140.8 points, an increase of 4.4 points, equivalent to 3.2 percent, and meat prices to 112.4 points, an increase of two points, equivalent to 1.8 percent, reversing the trend of decline over seven consecutive months, and prices of dairy products to 120 points, an increase of 3. 1 point is equivalent to 1.1 percent.
