Shafaq News/ The Iraqi Ministry of Planning announced, on Sunday, a slight increase in inflation rates by 0.4% in the country during the first months of the current year 2024.
The official spokesman for the ministry, Abdul Zahra Al-Hindawi, explained to Shafaq News Agency that the inflation index is always on the rise and there is no decline in the world, and this rise is the result of many reasons, including the presence of a large monetary mass and high prices, indicating that the inflation that Iraq is witnessing is an increase. Logical.
Al-Hindawi added that inflation recorded a slight increase last January of 0.4% compared to December 2023, while annual inflation from January 2023 to January 2024 witnessed an increase of the same percentage amounting to 0.4%, and if we add this percentage With annual inflation, the level of increase will be 4.5%.
He pointed out that the rise in the 12 departments that measure inflation was similar, and there were 8 departments that rose at a rate of 0.2% to 0.8%, and the health department did not witness an increase, while there were 3 departments that witnessed a decline, ranging from 0.5% to 1%.
