Abdullah stressed that Iraq does not currently need to construct new dams, as it has a large storage capacity in the Tharthar Dam amounting to 40 billion cubic meters, noting that his ministry had completed the Al-Masad and Abu Takiyah dams in the Anbar desert, and had begun the construction of the Al-Obeid Dam with a capacity of four million cubic meters in the Ain Oasis. Dates in the Holy Karbala Governorate.

He continued that his ministry will complete, by the end of this year and the beginning of 2025, 36 to 40 small dams to harvest water within the deserts of five governorates, namely Anbar, Maysan, Holy Karbala, Najaf Al-Ashraf, and Nineveh, stressing that they represent a solution to the water scarcity crisis in those areas, stressing that Iraq does not agree to the construction of the Jazra Dam.
