    Today, Thursday (March 28, 2024), President Abdul Latif Jamal Sheid stressed the importance of mobilizing the necessary security and intelligence momentum to eliminate organized crime in Iraq.
    The media office of the President of the Republic said in a statement received by "Baghdad Today", "The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received today, Thursday, at Al-Salam Palace in Baghdad, the National Security Advisor, Qasim Al-Araji, the head of the National Security Service, Abu Ali Al-Basri, and the Deputy Head of the Intelligence Service, Waqas Al-Hadithi." ".
    He added, "During the meeting, the latest developments in the political and security situation in Iraq and the region were reviewed," noting that President Rashid indicated the necessity of coordination between the security services, exchanging information among them, and joint work to preserve the achievements achieved in the internal arena, as well as controlling border security. In cooperation with neighboring countries and concluding a security agreement to consolidate the security and stability of the region.” 
    The statement explained, “The meeting also addressed the phenomenon of organized crime and drug trafficking in general and its negative effects on societies,” stressing the President of the Republic on “the importance of mobilizing the security and intelligence momentum necessary to confront and eliminate these phenomena, purify society of their consequences, and activate communication mechanisms with citizens to activate the information aspect.” ".
    For their part, the officials provided an explanation of the activities of the security services and their plans on how to confront terrorism and organized crime at the internal and external levels, praising “the valuable directives of the President of the Republic that will contribute to developing security performance and preserving the security and safety of citizens.”
