The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs revealed, on Sunday, the presence of about 300,000 illegal Syrian workers in Iraq.
The official spokesman for the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, Najm Al-Aqabi, said in an interview followed by Mawazine News, “There are more than 42,000 registered workers in Iraq who have a work permit from the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of various nationalities, and the majority of them are Asian workers.”
Najm Al-Aqabi confirmed: “We were keen to establish very strict mechanisms by not allowing the entry of workers, except for skilled ones, and searching the database of the Ministry of Labor, which looks into the availability of professions, while bringing an experience certificate certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the Embassy of Iraq and Syria.”
