    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
Today, Sunday (April 14, 2024), the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee pointed out a “loophole” in the training system of the “Iraqi Security Foundation,” while noting  that “the strength and ability of the armies and their systems cannot be measured by the physical fitness of their members.”
Committee member Waad al-Qaddo said, in an interview with “Baghdad Today,” that “the security ministries and supporting bodies all work within an institutional concept concerned with (Iraqi security) directly and in accordance with the powers of each of them.”
He pointed out that "the physical fitness file of its members is a priority, especially the forces that are subject to quarterly and seasonal plans through fitness upgrading courses that take on three main dimensions due to the quality of the force," noting that "there is a difference between training the elite forces and training the rest of the other formations."
He added, "Despite its importance, fitness is forgotten, but training and specialization are forgotten," noting that "interaction with both is important, especially since training in Iraq is still traditional due to the lack of infrastructure, sufficient financial allocations, and advanced weapons through which the capacity and effectiveness of the security forces can be increased."
He explained that "the strength and ability of armies and their systems is not measured by the physical fitness of their members, but rather by the extent of their professionalism in dealing with modern and advanced weapons that reduce human effort in various dimensions and turn the battlefield into a set of buttons that can decide 80% of its results without direct human intervention."
He continued, "The Ministry of the Interior has adopted important steps in activating physical fitness through anti-obesity paths and increasing the frequency of training courses by more than 70%," adding, "But training on modern weapons and adopting the principle of combat specialization remains a priority for the Iraqi Security Foundation because it is the one who decides." The results of any battle.
Earlier, the Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, stressed the necessity of restoring military discipline, raising the physical fitness of members, and supporting them with various weapons and vehicles .
A statement from the ministry said, “Al-Shammari praised the great efforts made by these units to enhance security and stability and gain the confidence of citizens,” indicating that “this role is what is required by the Internal Security Forces.”
