    Baghdad today - Baghdad
The spokeswoman for the Election Commission, Jumana Al-Ghalai, announced today, Tuesday (May 21, 2024), that Christ and the Turkmen in the region have been granted five seats in the Kurdistan Parliament.
Al-Ghalai said in a statement, received by “Baghdad Today”, that “in accordance with the decision of the judicial body, the region’s Turkmen, Christians and Armenian components will be granted five seats from the seats allocated to the region’s parliament.”
She added, "Two seats in Erbil are for Turkmen and Christians, two in Sulaymaniyah are for Turkmen and Christians, and one seat in Dohuk is for Armenians."
The Federal Court had previously decided to reduce the number of seats in the Kurdistan Parliament to 100 seats, instead of 111, and the quota of constituent seats was abolished.
