    The General Railway Company, affiliated with the Ministry of Transport, explained on Sunday the importance of contracting with an international company to provide financial, advisory and operational services for the Development Road Project, while stressing that this contract will support the reliability of investment in this project.
    The company's general manager, Younis Al-Kaabi, said in a statement reported by the official news agency, and seen by Al-Eqtisad News, that "this giant project with its three components (Al-Faw port, railways and highways) needs a vision for the state on how to manage it from the financial, investment and operational aspects, so it was decided." "We searched for the files of major international companies in the field of financial consulting, and the choice fell on Olver Wayman, which is a well-known international company."

    He added, “There are technical studies and negotiations with the company until all contracting requirements are completed, and the consultations will be limited to 9 months, and during this period the company will provide a summary of the financial consultations to the government, a business plan, a road map, financial steps, and choosing the economic model to finance this project and also market it globally through Through countries and international companies that wish to invest.

    He explained that "the vision of Oliver Wyman Consulting Company will give the project reliability to investors that it is capable of success, as it is expected to provide a solid and reliable study, and with the completion of the work of this global financial consulting company, there will be a scientific base for everyone who wants to participate in this project, as there will be a financial study in addition to the study." Engineering.

    He pointed out that "there are countries, companies, groups and unions of companies that want to contribute to development, whether through financing, investment or implementation."

    The Council of Ministers decided, in its session held on April 30, to authorize the Ministry of Transport to contract with Oliver Wyman Company to provide consulting services for the Iraq Development Road Project, as an exception to the Instructions for Implementing Government Contracts (2 of 2014), and the controls attached thereto, with Excluding the project from the listing requirements and conditions in the event that it is listed as an investment project, provided that the investing company bears the return of all consulting contract fees, which will be paid by the Ministry of Transport.
