Today, Tuesday, the Minister of Electricity, Ziad Ali Fadel, announced the reactivation of a project that had been stalled for ten years related to the rehabilitation of the four production units in the thermal cycle station.
The Ministry’s media office stated in a statement received by “Al-Iqtisad News” that “Minister of Electricity Ziad Ali Fadel met today, Tuesday, with a delegation from the Italian company ETHOS at the Ministry’s headquarters,” indicating that “the reasons for the delay in the contract concluded with the Ministry of Electricity were studied since long time".
The Minister directed to "remove all obstacles hindering the implementation of the contract, including strengthening the financial allocations for the project."
The statement pointed out that "it was decided during the meeting that the Italian company will begin the rehabilitation work of the second and third units, starting next month, to be followed by the rehabilitation of the other two units."
According to the statement, Fadel affirmed his “determination to resolve the issue of lagging projects in the electricity sector,” revealing “the ministry’s success in activating dozens of stalled projects during the first 18 months of the government’s life, and entering into negotiations with major international companies to rehabilitate electrical stations and implement... New energy projects, according to well-studied government plans.”
