    Political science professor Khaled Al-Ardawi commented on Wednesday (November 6, 2024) on how Iraq will deal with the new US President-elect Donald Trump in light of the arrest warrant issued against him by the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council.
    Al-Ardawi said, in an interview with Baghdad Today, that "Trump's victory is an important event in America and the world, as it will affect many American policies and positions towards Washington's allies and opponents, and this will have clear repercussions in the Middle East region."
    He added, "As for Iraq, the Iraqi decision-maker is in dire need to deal cautiously with a new American administration that is not prepared to accept pressure or threats to its interests. Without wisdom and caution, Iraq may be exposed to real dangers that can be avoided with wisdom and caution."
    He explained that "as for the arrest warrant for Trump, it is worthless, and we will not expect the law enforcement authorities in Iraq to arrest the American president if he enters Iraq, as it will remain just an unenforceable warrant placed in the drawers of the Iraqi judiciary, and talk about this warrant will remain just media and political talk, and perhaps Iraqi foreign policy will try to reduce its value so as not to embarrass itself in front of the decision-maker in Washington."
    Republican candidate Donald Trump announced his victory in the US presidential election from the stage of the Palm Beach Convention Center in Florida on Wednesday.
    "I thank the American people for electing me to be the 47th president," Trump said.
    He continued: "We achieved a political victory that our country has never witnessed before."
    Trump added: "We won the swing states, we made history tonight and this is a political victory, we will begin the golden age of the United States."
