The Minister of Communications, Hayam Al-Yasiri, confirmed today, Thursday, that the fiber optic project will be an alternative to the WiFi towers in Basra, while she indicated work on a project to land a third submarine cable at Al-Faw Marine Station.
Al-Yasiri stated in a statement, received by Al-Iqtisad News, that “the FTTH fiber optic project will be an alternative to the WiFi tower projects in Basra,” indicating that “optical fiber will be new landline phone projects in the future.”
She added, "It was agreed to cooperate between the Ministry of Communications and Basra Governorate in the field of automation and digital transformation," noting that "there are a group of projects for Basra Governorate, including a regional commercial data center project and transit projects."
She pointed to "work on a project to land a third submarine cable at Al-Faw Marine Station," stressing that "Basra Governorate is important to the communications sector."
