Today, Thursday, the House of Representatives denied allocating sums to members of Parliament as allocations related to Hajj.
The Media Department of the House of Representatives stated in a statement, “Some social media sites, including the (Baghdad Al-Hadath) website, reported unfounded news about the House of Representatives disbursing large sums of money to ladies and gentlemen members of the House under the title of Hajj allocations for them.”
She added, "This news is completely false, and the House of Representatives reserves its right to take legal measures against any party that attempts to harm the position of the legislative authority by publishing incorrect information. This contradicts the freedom of the press and media and falls within the framework of legally criminalized publishing."
The media department called on “all media outlets to be accurate and professional in publishing their news,” expressing “deep regret that some media outlets do not adopt accuracy, objectivity, and source in publishing their news.”
