    Baghdad today - Kirkuk
The former representative of Kirkuk Governorate, Yassin Al-Obaidi, considered today, Thursday (May 30, 2024), that the rotation of positions in the governorate does not carry any legal cover.
Al-Obaidi said in an interview with "Baghdad Today", "Yesterday's meeting in Baghdad with Al-Sudani, among the leaders of Kirkuk's political components, did not produce specific results and came within the context of bridging viewpoints in light of the differences in opinions regarding the solutions proposed to end the complex of forming the local government."
He added, "There are several options proposed to end the Kirkuk political complex, the most prominent of which is the rotation of positions, but it represents a problem at the same time because it is without legal cover. He wondered: What is the guarantor that can prevent any political bloc that leads the position of governor from abandoning it without a valid legal reason? And the governor can file a lawsuit." In the Federal Court in this regard, we are therefore facing another political dilemma?
Al-Obaidi pointed out that “recycling represents a precedent in the Iraqi scene in general and will reinforce the component and social division and push successive administrations to accelerate changes, which means a defect in the service file and its consequences. These are problems that must be paid attention to because the recycling file is not names, but programs and narrations within a short period.”
He continued, "The Kirkuk complex cannot be resolved easily in light of the high ceilings of the political forces, and there must be a national consensus that leads to the development of an objective road map that gives broader participation in the decision by its components."
In addition, the official of the Kurdistan Democratic Party branch in Kirkuk, Muhammad Kamal, confirmed today, Thursday (May 30, 2024), that the Kirkuk complex will not be resolved except through the concession of a specific party, whether from the Arab blocs or the National Union bloc.
Kamal said in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “the Democratic Party was and still is in favor of getting out of the crisis and the necessity of reaching a solution that ends the complex of forming a local government, and we went with many proposals with the aim of getting out of the crisis.”
He added, "The Democratic Party welcomed the idea of the Turkmen to rotate positions, as it may be a way out of the problem of forming the local government, but there is still intransigence on the part of most parties, and therefore the crisis continues and there is no solution yet, and even the meeting with Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani did not bring anything new." .
Yesterday, Wednesday (May 29, 2024), Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani held a meeting with representatives and leaders of the political blocs that won membership in the Kirkuk Provincial Council.
According to informed sources, “The Sudanese did not reach any solution to hold the Kirkuk Council session before Eid al-Adha, after listening to the opinions presented, and the leaders of the blocs also did not reach any agreement among themselves.”
The winning blocs in the Kirkuk Provincial Council elections more than 5 months ago failed to agree on a joint proposal to form the local government in light of each one’s insistence on assuming the position of governor and talk about rotating the position between the Kurdish, Arab and Turkmen blocs, an option that is still in the folds of the dialogue papers that Waiting for a third, unknown date to be set by Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani.
